Birthday Parties

Celebrate your birthday with Ceramica!

Spend Your Birthday with Ceramica!

We offer painting parties at Ceramica Arthouse for your special day. Painting birthday party packages come with a custom birthday plate (for reservations of 8 painters or more). We individualize the plate with the birthday child’s name and a graphic of choice. All parties are hosted in a separate, large room, and assigned a dedicated staff member to help.  We offer a wide range of animal figurines ($21.99 ea), and a large selection of housewares for guests to choose from.

Party Room reservations include: 2 hours in party room, custom birthday plate, and a dedicated staff member for assistance. 8 painters minimum, 15 painter maximum.

You can also add a workshop to your party and learn how to make a vessel or sculpture. We host “making” parties at here at Ceramica Arthouse or at our sister studio, Parched Earth Pottery. Ask for more details as to which location would be the best fit for your needs. Please email us at  ceramicaboise@gmail.com.

Below is the breakdown of each different birthday package:

CLAY BIRTHDAY PARTY PACKAGES

OPTION A:  HANDBUILD PROJECT (Slab or coil construction).

Total TIme for Party1-1.5 hours of clay, followed by 1 hour of cake, presents.

Cost:  $30 per child

Description:  Your guests will receive coaching and assistance in the building of their own coil or slab-constructed projects (we will work with the client to choose what we make together). Once projects are constructed, we will use underglaze colorants to add color.  Our glazers will then fire them, spray clear glaze to seal them, and refire them for pickup.  All mugs will be microwave and dishwasher safe.

OPTION C:  THROWING AND HANDBUILDING PARTY (Wheel and Hand-Building)

Total TIme for Party1-2 hours of clay, followed by 1 hour of cake, presents.

Cost:  $45 per child

DescriptionYour guests will be divided into two groups.  One pair of guests will work with the wheel coaches 2 at a time while the others work on hand-building something (i.e. cups etc).  When the first pair is finished making a piece, we will pause the hand-building of 2 others to rotate them to the wheel, and so on until everyone has a thrown cup and a hand-built project each.  Once mugs are constructed, we will use underglaze colorants to add color to the mugs.  We will also add some color to the throw cups as well.  Our glazers will then fire them, spray clear glaze to seal them, and refire them for pickup.  All mugs and thrown pots will be microwave and dishwasher safe.

The advantage of this plan is that everyone is active and will end up with 2 products rather than 1.

OPTION B:  THROWING PARTY (Wheel throwing)

Total Time for Party:  1-1.5 hours of clay, followed by 1 hour of cake, presents.

Cost:  $40 per child

Description:  Your guests will receive coaching on throwing and assistance on the wheel as they each throw a cup for decorating.  Everyone will achieve a cup on the wheel, but they will vary based on each guest's abilities.  Once thrown pots are constructed, we will use underglaze colorants to add color to the cups.  Our glazers will then fire them, spray clear glaze to seal them, and refire them for pickup.  All cups will be microwave and dishwasher safe.

One challenge is that we will only be able to work with 3-4 guests on the wheel at once in order to effectively assist them achieve success.  The fewer we help at once, the better the outcome.  This means that the others will be watching while we work with their friends.   It does pose a little challenge that there will be some inactive guests while the others throw.

FAQs About Birthday Parties at Ceramica in Boise, ID

I don’t have eight people in attendance, can I still book a party?

It may be possible, depending on availability. Please reach out to ceramicaboise@gmail.com for more information.

Can we bring food to the party?

Yes! Parents are encouraged to bring food and drinks to the party. You can even order pizza or other food to be delivered directly to the store. We have a full-size fridge and freezer available if you need to store something ahead of time. However, we DO NOT carry plates, cups, or utensils. Please remember to bring your own!

How soon can we arrive to the party?

Party hosts should arrive 15 min prior to the scheduled time to allow for set up and additional decorating if desired.

Can we leave our children to be supervised by Ceramica staff during the party?

Unfortunately, due to the fragile nature of the studio, and courtesy to our other customers, host parents or guardians are expected to supervise children in all areas of the studio including the bathroom. Additionally, the following are not allowed in the studio: piñatas, bouncing balls, noisemakers, animals, silly string, and/or any other objects we deem unsafe.

What is the best age for Ceramica birthday parties?

We welcome all ages for birthday parties! However, it has been Ceramica’s experience that birthday party attendees do best painting pottery with minimal parental assistance starting at 5 years of age. The younger the child, the more assistance they will require. Children’s parents will need to be present at all times if younger than 5.

What times can we reserve the party?

11:30 am – 1:30 pm (package A or B only)
2 pm- 4 pm (package A or B only)

Please reach out to ceramicaboise@gmail.com to make special arrangements for add-ons (handbuilding and throwing on the wheel).

How soon should I reserve a party?

The sooner you reserve your spot, the easier it will be to add working with clay. Working with clay add-ons require additional time in the studio. We would love to celebrate with as many children as possible. Please give us at least 2-weeks for special arrangements. We will accommodate all reservations based on the availability of the party room.
